Little focuses on four topics: the relative importance of individual rationality and community values in explaining traditional peasant behavior; the role of marketing and transportation systems in Chinese society; the causes of agricultural stagnation in traditional China; and the reasons for peasant rebellions in Qing China. 作者简介
李丹（Daniel Little），美国著名的哲学家，1971年毕业于伊利诺大学，获数学学士和哲学学士学位，1977年毕业于哈佛大学，获哲学博士学位。获得博士学位后，先后在科尔盖特大学、卫斯理学院等大学任教，并在哈佛大学国际事务中心任访问学者（1989-1991）。在此期间，他先后任科尔盖特大学教授会副会长（1993-96）和巴克内尔大学副校长（1996-2000）。现任密执安大学迪尔本分校校长和哲学教授，并兼任密执安大学主校的社会学教授。他还承担过美国全国科学基金会（the National Science Foundation）、社会科学研究理事会/麦克阿瑟基金会（the Social Science Research Council/MacArthur Foundation）的项目。
