作者简介

奈保尔爵士，2001年诺贝尔文学奖得主。1932年出生于特里尼达岛上的一个印度移民家庭。1950年获奖学金进 入牛津大学攻读英国文学，1953年取得学位后迁居伦敦，任职英国广播公司，1957年以《神秘按摩师》正式开 始写作生涯。

奈保尔的作品以小说和游记为主，两者均获高度评价。代表作有：《比斯瓦斯先生的房子》《河湾》《印度三部曲》等。

在成为诺贝尔奖得主之前，奈保尔已收获无数荣誉，如英国最富声望的布克奖，毛姆小说奖，莱思纪念奖，霍桑登奖等。1993年，获颁第一届大卫·柯恩英国文学奖，该奖旨在表扬“尚在人世的英国作家一生的成就”。
