道金斯 Richard Dawkins
英国人，著名演化理论学者，英国皇家学会会士。1941年出生於肯亚，1949年全家返回英国。就读牛津大学，受业於动物行为学名家丁伯勤（Nikolaas Tinbergen, 1907-1988；一九七三年诺贝尔生理医学得主），获动物学博士学位。
1976年，道金斯出版了《自私的基因》这本书，阐释以「基因」为分析单位的演化观，因而声名大噪。
1995年起，担任牛津大学新设立的科学教育讲座教授（Chair of Public Understanding of Science）；2001年当选英国皇家学会会士。
道金斯是英国最重要的科学作家，不但每一本书都是畅销书，并经常在各大媒体讨论、评论科学的各个面向。道金斯的畅销著作中，《自私的基因》为最重要的代表作，《延伸的表现型》（The Extended Phenotype, 1982）次之。此外，《盲眼鐘錶匠》（The Blind Watchmaker, 1986）与续篇《攀登不可能的山》（Climbing Mount Improbable, 1996）都是演化生物学的入门书。
