玛丽·盖茨基尔 Mary Gaitskill 著有短篇小说集Bad Behavior、长篇小说Two Girls, Fat and Thin，以及短篇小说集Because They Wanted To，此书曾获一九九八年“美国笔会/福克纳奖”提名。小说与散文散见《纽约客》杂志、《哈泼杂志》、《君子杂志》、《一九九三年美国短篇小说奖》，以及《一九九八年欧亨利奖小说集》。短篇小说《秘书》（Secretary）曾改编为同名电影（台湾中文片名为《怪咖情缘》）。曾获古根汉基金会研究奖金。现居纽约，并在雪城大学（Syracuse University）教授创作写作。
